Woodruff Academy History and Educational Philosophy
History
Woodruff Academy (WA), formerly Wilford Woodruff Academy, was founded in 1982 by June Woodruff Sullivan. Originally a small organization of home schooling parents, WA grew to become a cottage school support program, providing extra-curricular activities and educational opportunities to home school students.
In 2007, WA began offering on-campus classroom instruction four days a week, with additional educational opportunities on Fridays. WA is devoted to individualized learning materials and pacing, as well as outstanding parental support.
In addition to on-campus instruction, WA continues to offer a home school support program that allows home school student to participate in field trips, and selected on-campus activities such as prom.
Educational Philosophy
It is the mission of Woodruff Academy to provide a quality education in an environment that fosters a child's love of learning; a respect for self, family, church, and friends; an appreciation for our American freedoms; and a desire to serve the local community. WA’s small class size supports a commitment to an individualized learning program that caters to each student’s educational interests and learning pace.
